Kim’s Katsu is a popular Japanese restaurant in Calgary specializing in authentic Japanese comfort food. The restaurant is well known for its freshly prepared crispy katsu, Japanese curry, donburi, udon, and other traditional Japanese dishes. Kim’s Katsu is committed to using high-quality ingredients and preparing every meal with care to deliver an exceptional dining experience and outstanding customer service.

Responsibilities

Prepare, season, and cook a variety of Japanese dishes, including katsu, curry, donburi, noodles, appetizers, and other menu items.
Prepare meats, seafood, vegetables, sauces, and other ingredients according to restaurant recipes and quality standards.
Ensure that all food is of high quality and meets our standards
Follow recipes and cooking techniques to ensure consistency
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen
Ensure that all equipment is in good working order and report any issues to management
Assist with inventory management and ordering of supplies
Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure that all orders are prepared and served in a timely manner
Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines

Requirements

Minimum 2 years of professional cooking experience
Experience preparing Japanese cuisine is considered an asset
Cooking Training Certificate/Diploma
High school diploma or equivalent
Good English Communication Skills (CLB 5)
Good French Communication Skills (NCLC 5)
Excellent culinary skills
Ability to follow recipes and cooking techniques
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation guidelines

Work Conditions

Weekend, evening, and holiday shifts may be required
Fast-paced restaurant environment.
Standing for extended periods.
Repetitive tasks requiring attention to detail
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while meeting service deadlines.
Ability to lift up to 20 kg when handling food products and kitchen supplies.
Team-oriented workplace focused on quality, consistency, and excellent customer service.
